São Luís, Brazil

I love traveling. Despite the copious amount of time spent in uncomfortable airplane seats or in an airport, I always think it's worth it once arriving to my final destination. This summer, I took a break from the desert and spent time in Florida and Brazil with my family. It's hot in Tucson, so I figured if I was going to be hot, I would rather suffer in Florida with family and friends.

The girls and I enjoyed Florida and Ryan joined us to travel to Brazil together. His family is from São Luís, Brazil, and it was the first time we were able to travel as a family. It had been over 20 years since he had visited his family, and it was a a joyous reunion. It was wonderful to meet family for the first time, and to instantly feel like they had been family my entire life. Primas for life!

While I brought my camera with me to Florida to work, I was incredibly grateful I had it with me in Brazil. São Luís is a unique city, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site. The city has influences from the Dutch, French, and Portuguese, as evidenced in the historic Downton buildings. We got a personal tour from his Tia who walked us through the small streets where beautiful buildings clad in hand painted tiles lined the road. Some of the images below are from our time in Barreirinhas, where we stayed off the river in the jungle. We were able to visit Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, which is one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. I didn't take my camera due to my concerns about the sand, but you can find some information about it here. It's worth the click.

Whether across the country, or across the globe, I am always willing to travel. Experiencing new things and new cultures makes us better global citizens, and people. If you don't live in the immediate Tucson area, but would still like to work together, let's chat! I am passport ready and always up for an adventure. From destination weddings to epic family sessions, I am eager to work together to capture the images you deserve. Enjoy some of my favorite images from Brazil below!
